  2. After listening to the message reported by channel news asia which had attracted me with its video and sound, i think that the student stabbed his professor and then later commit suicide becuse of the overbearing stress that a student will face studying in Singapore though others thoughtthat it was the NUS fault tlat they did not handle their school well. From this report, it serves as a lesson for the adults, warning them about the limit of pressure a student can tolerate, and the extremes actions some students will take when they just cannot cope with it.

  3. i think that the reporting of the message created by channel news asia is better than reading the news.Compared to reading the news article, it would be much more attractive. i think that this incident should serve as an example, warning the parents not to put to much stress on their child and also not to pin too high hopes on them because they will be worried of themselves not being able to accomplished it and hence resort to extreme actions.Sometimes when children cannot cope with the stress and pressure that they face do silly things like attmpting suicide to release themselves. Hence this should be a constand reminder to parents not to engulf the child with overbearing stress.i think the reason why the message has been sent is because the media are trying to raise awareness to parents regarding paying more attention to their child. they should show more concern to their child and do not push or give them too much pressure in case they cannot take it and do silly things.parents, instead of being too engrossed in their own work should not necglect their child and should pay constant attention to them.

  4. 1)Th ejournalists and the people from Channel NewsAsia sent the message to the public.
2)The reporter has used subtitles that will hap us know what she is saying more clearly and fcilitates the spread of the news.
3)In this kind of news, there are often gaping holes that are unexplained, and people may form conpiracy to fill up those spaces. Thus, some people will interpret these messages incorrectly and end up with wrong information. So, in the shoes of the journalists, we must try to cover these gaping holes as much as possible, although some information definately needs tro be kept secret, such like the person who witnesed a perticular incident or the muderer's name ina particular case.
4)It is being sent because the public needs to be in the know about current situations in Singapore and be more aware of the incidences in Singapore.

An1) journalist is the ones who created this message.
An2) Reporters use sound to attract me.unlike newspapers, reporters report the news to us.
An3) different people have different point of view of the same thing or object.other people may think that the boy done such an act is because he is depressed or feel very stressed.but I think the professor may have something to do with the accident.
An4) this proves that we children need their own leisure time,if not we may do something silly like that boy who stab a professor then jump down the building.
An5)it is to prevent cases like this from repeating itself again.

  9. 1) Journalists got the information from passer-bys and reporters and created the message.

    2) When the news reporters report the news, they put in feelings and different tones when speaking, which makes the news sound very interesting and attractive.

    3) Different people might think differently the reasons why the boy did all those acts. For instance, people might think that the boy did those acts because of hatred of the professor that he stabbed him and fear of going to jail that he suicided. But I think the professor stressed the boy out until he could not take it so he stabbed the professor and the boy thought that there is no turning back so he suicided.

    4) This message shows that children should not be too stressed out and should be given some time to do what they like and want to do.

    5) This message is being sent to advice parents not to arrange too much activities such as too much tuition, learn many things and pack their whole timetable with those activities.

  10. 1)The reporters

2)I think the subtittles attract me most as I am used to reading words off the screen

3)I think the NTU student played too musch violent games such as God of War and Grand Theft Auto and was very stressed. So i think he was in a mentally unstable state and maybe tried to renact the scenes from the games. In Japan there was actually one case where someone dressed as Kratos from God of War,tried to duplicate his weapons and went on a rampage on the streets in a very brutal way.Such as lunging through one's back and violently spinning the knife.

4)The message might be telling us to have enough sleep and not to have an unstable mentallity where you can do stuff that breaks the law and will change your life forever

5)It is because we do not want to turn the streets into a place where people are dying left and right being killed by insane people

  13. 1. The reporters

    2. The news caster used simple English that made me listen to what is he or she saying.

    3. They might think that the student died maybe out of stress, for fun, being pushed down the bridge, fear of being jailed or mental problems.

    4. This message is telling us not to do something that is totally out of the mind or something that is against the law.

    5. This serves as a warning to those parents on not to push their chld too much or they might do something sillly that can cost a life. It is also to those who play games too much and do not have time to take rest as they may one day become insane due to the lack of rest and may cost serious internal injuries or death.

  16. The journalist created this message after hearing from the witnesses and passer-by.The tone of the reporters and broadcaster and the emphasis of words attracted my attention. Different people might think that the NTU student who stab the professor killed the professor because of education stress. We should think before we act and if we are too stress about anything, try to stay away
from that thing and do something that you enjoy to do. This message is being sent to warn parents to take note of their child and to not give them too much stress.

2)The interviewing of the eye-witness, students at NTU and the police spokesman caught my attention.

3)I feel that David Hartanto Widjaja was too much as he dared to stab his professor. But some people might have gone through this thought before and be more understanding. It all depends on the what the person has gone through before.

4)This message shows what people can do even if it is against thelaw.

5)This can serve as a warning, to those who think that it is because of stress that caused this incident, that we must plan our time properly so that we would not be too stress.

  23. 1. This is a message created by a journalist.

2.I think i would rather choose the live news broadcast than reading the newspapers. This is because the newsapaper had too many words, as in it is too wordy. The broadcaster and the reporter had fluent English, which had attacrted me whose English is very poor.

    3. Some people would thought that the teachers in NTU are very poor. They only care about the students' results and not their feelings. Some people, for example, parents, this information serve them as a warning to them to take care of their children. Mind their business more, prevent them from addiction of games and become crazy afterwards like the teenager, David Hartanto.

    4. This would allow the NTU teachers know to care about their students. Do not exceed their pressure, as this would affect many students' studies.

    5. This message is not send warnings to public that too much of pressure would effect students very badly.

3)I think other people would say that NTU is bad and it may affect the enrolment of students aftr this incident. I am thinking if the proffessor has been fair and gave David the score he deserves, he should not be so upset to the point of stabbing the proffessor.

  37. 1: The new reporters created the message.
2: The sense of good vocabulary attracted me,
as well as the fact that the news is being read out.
I find that I enjoy listening to news much more than
    actually reading it.
3: In my point of view of listening to this piece of news,
I would think that the student(David), is unable to take
the blow of being terminated from his ASEAN scholarship.
He takes things to heart. While others may think that the
university(NTU) is unfair as the school did not give the
student a chance, causing him stress.
4: We should not take negative things to heart. Failures
should be a lesson learnt. Failure is not a Failure itself.
It is a step closer to Success! Therefore through this
news report, I can confidently say that FAILURE is not the
end but it brings me another step closer to gaining SUCCESS!
5: I think this message is trying to make the public aware that
there are avenue available of people when they are facing
stress. It is unnecessary for them to turn to death just because
they think that there is no way out. Through this message I
am able to know that even though the student thought he could
end his misery by dying, but he has caused his loved ones to
    feel the misery instead.
