  1. historical events that occur in movies are usually not real.the director likes to make the plot of the movie different from real life, either to make the characters seem more lucky or sad.for example in the movie fearless, the directer chose to write the plot such that there are no descendants in the huo family, but in actual fact, huo family still have descendants.another example is in the movie 300,The real persian immortals had a long spear instead of two swords and they wore a robe and they also did not wear a mask. They also held a round shield and wore a hat.from these examples,i can see that movies are not a reliable source for historical informtion.

  3. Contents of historical events are not exactly true and trustable. The scriptwriter likes to exaggerate the original plot of the story or change it to the opposite, to let the viewers watch another version of the story. By twisting the original plot to either a more saddening or happy story, it would captivate the hearts of the viewers. Take for example the movie fearless, it is said that Huo Yuan Jia was from a rich family living in a big house but the fact is he was not exactly rich, and their family's income was mainly from farming. His father works as a guard guarding the carvan travelling to the manchuria. And also, though he was really poisoned, he did not die on the spot like in the movie, the reason is that his new chinese doctor prescribed the wrong medication resulting in his death. From this we can tell that historical information from movies are not trustworthy and reliable.

  4. I strongly feel that we should not trust the source that is given to us in the movie. It may lead to quarrels. The film director wanted to make his movie or film more attractive so he might had exaggerated the plot or replace another one.
One example is that in the Jet Li(Fearless), Huo Yuan Jia's family's house income comes by farming. In the movie says that he is living in a huge mansion instead of a small hut. He died of poisoning, we knew, because there are traces for it. But, the movie seems that he had died on the fighting spot. According to other sites that I had visited, it said that Huo Yuan Jia died after he was sent to the hospital.
Although some movies contain the actual facts, some were not. We should be more beware about the plot and not just trust them as they would provide weong information and resulting you to get the wrong knowledge.

  5. The content of historical events in movies are often not true as the directors added more things to make the movie interesting so viewers will watch. They make the viewer mistake the movie as real history by saying it is from true history in trailer or at the start/end of movie, which is not true. Besides, nobody will like to watch movie that is from true history.

  6. Trusting that the historical movies you watch will give you a wrong impression of the charcacter.Although the movie talks about the main point of character life, there will be a few points which are not real. But that doesnt mean that the entire story is fake I am just stating that there will be little details added in the movie to make it a little more interesting. So we should not entirely trust that the movie is totally based on facts. If we do,we might mess up our facts in history and if it happens that we are tested on the character then we might make alot of mistakes.

  7. Most of the historical history cannot be trusted and would lead to many confusion and mishaps. The directors never tell the truth, they would only exaggerate on the truth.
In the movie " fearless " Huo Yuanjia was a rich man living in a huge house. This however is false, he is actually from a family which gets money through farming.
In the story " 300 " the spartan king wore a cape and his underwear in a battle. This may be hilarious but its the truth. In the real battle, the king was also not the last one to die. He also did not die by a rainfall of arrows.Do not base on historical movies to get your facts right.

  9. I think we should not depend much on movies as a reliable source for historical information. The contents might not be true and trustable. The director might exaggerate or add false contents to the movie, just to make the movie interesting. For example, in the movie Jet Li or Fearless, Huo Yuan Jia was rich and live in a big house. This was not true as the real Huo Yuan Jia was poor and their income were from farming. The director changed the true history which might cause trouble. For example, a student who watch the movie, and was tested in a test about Huo Yuan Jia, he will write the wrong things and fail his test. Thus, I conclude that provided wrong historical events are dangerous and we should not trust everything reflected in a movie.

  10. Historical events that occur in movies are usually not true. The contents are often different from real life. The directors mostly added more things and tend to exaggerate abit, to make the movie interesting so that viewers will watch the movie. For example, it mentioned in the fearless movie, that Huo Yuan Jia has no descendants, but in actual fact, the Huo family have descendants. From this we can tell that historical information from movies are not always trustworthy and reliable. So we cannot believe everything we see from movies. We will get the wrong information if we believe everything we see from movies.Besides, nobody will like to watch movie that is not from true history.

It is dangerous to provide wrong historical events. For example,if a history teacher believed that the movie is real, he will teach his students the wrong thing. When the students learn the wrong history and get tested in a test about Huo Yuan Jia, he may fail the test if he write about the fearless movie. It will then be very unfair to the student, for what he learnt was from the teacher, and what the teacher had learnt was from the movie. Thus,we should not trust everything reflected in a movie.

  12. I think that we should not depend on movies such as fearless for finding out what happened in the past. Directors try to add in an element of thrill into the movie by adding facts that are not true. In the movie for example, it showed that Huo Yuan Jia was from a wealthy family who lived in a big house and had no descendants. But in the history, Huo Yuan Jia was not even rich at all, his family survived on farming. He also had descendants as well. If other people who have no background knowledge about Huo Yuan Jia were to have warched this movie, they might have believed every single detail about him and tell their friends about it. Many people would have then gotten the wrong information about him. Therefore, I conclude that we should get our historical facts from a movie.

  13. I don't think that we should depend on movies to get historical information. The director would usually make the movie more exciting by adding in action-pack scenes which might not have occured in the past.Take Fearless as an example,Huo Yuan Jia died because of his medication, but in the movie it showed that he died because he was poisoned.Even though Huo Yuan Jia did get poisoned, but he did not die because of that. The director must have changed the story to make it more interesting. But this is just showing the wrong facts to people who want to learn more about Huo Yuan Jia.Hence,I feel that we should not depend on movies to learn about historical facts.

  14. - I think that movies are not a reliable source as the director always or mostly twists the truth about the character. For example, in the movie "Fearless", Huo Yuan Jia was depicted as someone from a rich family but in actual fact, he was not from a rich family at all, but instead his family's main source was from farming. The movie also showed that Huo Yuan Jia had no decendants when he actually did.

  15. The dangers of depending movies for historical events are that the directors of the movies tend to twist historical facts or events to captivate the viewers’ attention. For example, in the movie “Fearless”, Huo Yuan Jia may exist in the history but his whole family is not killed due to the fact that there were still some descendants that go by the surname “Huo”. Also, though Huo Yuan Jia died due to poisoning, he did not died glory of poisoning after winning a match but passed away peacefully on his bed due to the fact that his new chinese doctor prescribed the wrong medication resulting in his death. All these facts were changed just so that the viewers would be interested in the movies. From this we can tell that historical information from movies is not trustworthy and reliable and besides, nobody will like to watch movie that is from true history.

  16. The danger of depending on movies as a reliable source for historical information is to mistake the events that have happened. What is shown in the movie may not be what had happened in the past. Normally, the directors would change the story, example the way that the person dress, to attract the audience. The audience would normally prefer nicer costumes. which is more stylish than the past. Example like the show "Fearless", Huo Yuan Jia was a character in the show as well as in the past, but in the show, it shows that Huo Yuan Jia is rich. In reality, Huo Yuan Jia was poor and was the son of a farmer. Therefore, I would say that movies is not a reliable source for historical information.

  17. The danger of depending on movies as a reliable source for historical information is that whatever that is going on inside the movie may not be totally true or even real at all. Most directors like to show wars that when on in the past and yet change the events that happen. They feel that by doing that, it makes the movie more interesting which it doesn’t. It may even confuse people who are learning history for the first time. They may not know which information to believe as the information given may be different.Sometimes they may believe the information given by the movie, which is wrong, and use them to do their project.

  18. The danger of depending on movies for historical information is that what the movie plays may not be what really happened, and can cause those who watch it to believe that what everything the movie shows is true. For example, in the movie "Fearless", Huo Yuan Jia was depicted as someone from a rich family but in actual fact, he was not from a rich family at all, but instead his family's main source was from farming. Therefore, I would say that movies is not a reliable source for historical information.

  19. The danger of depending on movies for historical information is that the information or situations depicted in the movie may not even be what happened in real life, it could be just what the director put in to publicize the movie. The directors, in order to get fame and fortune, put in information that may not be entirely true. As a result, we are led to believe that the information in the movie is actually true. It may cloud our judgements on what really had happened and this may affect our the way we predict the event in the movie until we find out it is wrong. They may even use this wrong information to do important things, related to work or school.

  20. I would strongly encourage to not search for hisorical information through/from movies, as i believe that the directors of every historical movie was just merely inpired by e.g., Huo Yuan Jia. I mean, who would watch a movie depicting the exact life of a man who fights?
I personally think that there is'nt any danger, but there might be people who use the information for their projects, etc..
Thats why we're taught Media Literacy in school.

  21. We should never rely on movies for historical evidence, ever.Usually the directors will add in some scenes that never happened. With the technology now a days, every single thing can be manipulated.Take the Olympic 2008 ending ceremony. The ending ceremony actually added in an extra "firework",in actual the "firework" never existed, through editing they added in an extra "firework" to make the ending ceremony nicer to watch. So this shows that the directors will do anything to attract more revenue and thus, make even the replay of the Olympics fake.

  22. Since movies usually exaggerate the true recount of history, using them as a primary source of information and lead to disasterous results as the movie is not actually truly true but is just based loosely on that.
Movies are meant to entertain people, not to educate people about history, so movies are not reliable, and we should not get our information entirely on that.

  23. I do not think that we should trust the historical events from the movies because the directors might have changed some of the plot and the appeareance of the main characters .The directors want to make their movies interesting and not so boring so people will like to watch it and the company can earn money.Imagine how a bored movie will make the audience feel. The audience are sure to be bored to tears.A boring movie will also attract lesser people'attention.Movies are made to be entaintaning .A movie with a false historical event which has never happened will cause people to misunderstand and learn the wrong things.Students might even use the false knowledge to complete their project.

  24. Historical informations in movies are usually not reliable. The director would change the plot to make the story more interesting and attractive. The director will also twist the plot to either a sad or happy story to capture the viewers' heart.

One example is that the director wrote the plot in such a way that the "Huo" did not have any descendants but actually, the "Huo" still has descendants.

Another example is that in the movie "Fearless", Huo Yuan Jia was from a rich family who lived in a big house but in fact, Huo Yuan Jia was poor and their family's income was mainly from farming.

Through these, we can tell that historical information from movies are not really reliable.

  25. I personally think that we should rely too much on movies for historical events, although some may be true. The director changed the plot to make the movie sellable and more interesting so that it will gain popularity. Imagine how bored it would be if the while movie is about historical events. Would people buy these costly tickets just to watch the historical movie? They would just go to the museum if they want to know more about historical events and the movie company produce a movie is to make money but not to bored the audience to tears so the company would changed the plot to a more interesting one to attract the audience to watch this movie.

  26. I think that we should not trust movies as most of them are fake , and even if they are real there is only a small piece of real historical information inside . The director wanted to make the movie interesting and attracting to make profits , not to just show a ''video'' of what happened in the past history . Movies are never real , that is why I never believe them . If we want historical information we can go search for it in search engines like Google , etc.

This is why I do not think that historical information from movies are not reliable .

  27. I do not think we should trust movies as a reliable source. All the movies that shows the history of anything are all edited to please the people wanting to watch these movies. These movies can also brainwash our knowledge of history and we will fail in our history tests if we make use the knowledge that the movies lied to us. Take the movie 'Huo Yuan Jia' for an example. In the movie, the Huo family did not have any descendents. However, in real history, there descendents of the Huo family is still alive and kicking. Even now, there is still descendents of the family living today.

  28. I think the danger of depending on movies for historical information is dangerous as they may have shorten the timeline of the biography as it might have been a very long time. They may also have change some events because it may be very boring and the audience might not like it. The directors may have change some boring parts into a more dramatic part to attract the audience.

  29. we should not trust movies because they are always changed or edited.
this is not good for the person and his/her family members. it is not a good impression for the person that the main character in the movie.
also, the director may add a few unnecessary points and it may offend his/her family members.
if the director make the person look and act differently, the impression on peoples mind will destroy their reputation.
the main points of the story are changed for entertainment and it may influence others to behave, think or act violently.
we should not trust movies for important points

  33. In movies, people tend to add in fictional stuff . Sometimes , information also can be biased . Normally, in a movie , the script writer will change the story settings and it might not have had happened in the past at all . Sometimes they put in some ghostly stuff , that is to attract people who like to watch ghost related movies . In that case, it does not mean that ghost really exists in real life .

  35. Movies are made for the entertainment of people and not as a learning platform. Some films are loosely based on history but the key word used is LOOSELY. They do not follow history by a 100 percent and they would change scenes and the sequence of things to make a movie more heart-rending or joyful. This makes the movie better and causes it to sell better than others. This information would make many people have false believes and have misunderstood thoughts. Misleading information is known as propaganda and that can cause misunderstandings and defamation of a well known public figure. For example, ‘Huo Yuan Jia’ was portrayed as a rich man who had many things but in reality, he was a poor man who struggled through life.

  36. Movie directors would usually change the history in their movies. For example , they will turn a hero into a coward in their movie. Thanks to these people , the audience will usually have a wrong idea of who that person really is and what he really did. they would only include a little bit of true history in their movies as they think that the audience will be bored to tears if they were to put in true history in their movies so they edit stuffs to make the movie more interesting.
